Somebody asked for help with log-files reporting. Here are a few directions and considerations.
Creating the log file.
Of course, in order to create a log file, you have to remember to start the log. But recent versions of vassal can help you. First of all, use the latest version of VASSAL. After starting the game, go to File->Preferences->General and check that the option "Ask to ensure logging when starting or loading a game" is activated. In this way, you will be offered to start a log file each time you start a game.
Reporting on commandsandcolors.net
When reporting about a game, don't use the article page but the associated forum thread. Let me explain. The pages that Mark creates with the matches, the game scores, or the list of scenarios are articles. You can tell if you are on an article page by looking at the top of the page, where the position of the file you are actually visiting is reported. If it contains the word "article", then you are reading an article. For instance, the article page of this tournament is "Home/Articles/Tournaments/Mini Tournaments/MT03". While you can comment directly on the article, you cannot attach files. To attach files you have to go to the forum thread discussing the article. The article discussion thread can be reached at the end of the article, clicking on "Posts in discussion" (just below "Discuss this article"). See the picture below:
Logfiles are important
Log files are an important contribution to the community. If you played the game without issues, producing a clean log file, then it constitutes an invaluable learning resource for new players and also an opportunity to entertain more experienced players. If you had problems during the game, the log file is essential for the maintainer of the module in order to check the issue, understand its source and possibly fix it. In both cases, the log file is not adequately replaced by the stories you write about your games or a vsav file.
