• SUPERIOR STATURE: Because of its superior stature, any cavalry unit will ignore one sword rolled against it when attacked in Close Combat by any foot unit.

this rule applies in the Base game, but does not apply in the Crusaders expansion.

What I'm interested in is when does the crossover happen?
The Base game covers the 6th Century
The Crusader expansion the 11th Century

personally I'm not sure that it ever happened, cavalry is always taller and faster than foot soldiers, and whilst there was definitely a collection of measures to defend against cavalry, and create weapons that could attack cavalry effectively, and a corresponding increase in cavalry armour, it isn't clear to me that the superiority of cavalry stature was overcome before the rise of the Swiss halberdiers, English longbows and eventually firearms.

That being said, the rule is clear, but it isn't clear when to switch over from the Base game rule to the Expansion rule. Would the 9th Century be appropriate?
