Fun game - John's Mounted Charge was a mini-disaster but the dice gods took pity later, sparing a 1-step Seljuk medium cavalry to extend the game. I'm really beginning to appreciate the capabilities of leader-directed heavy knights.

Round 5 game results:

Crusader (gonzo) won 8 banners and lost 33 blocks (Crusader victory)
Saracen (gdnuke) won 7 banners and lost 44 blocks

Good close game. As Saracen, Light Cavalry Swarm was hard to pull off, but Shower Shooting was very effective. As Crusader, those Knights are very tough, and the Panic rules are your friend!

Round 3 game result:

Saracen (gdnuke) 6 banners won and 19 blocks lost (Saracen victory)
Crusader (hank)   2 banners won and 27 blocks lost

Tough day for the Crusaders. They have 5 cards vs 6 and a vulnerable initial deployment. Nothing they can't overcome with their 4 HKCs (each with a leader attached) and a couple of those dangerous medium Crossbowmen, but they do need some good cards and some good dice. Hank played a good solid game, but outside of a Foot Onslaught card, a couple Inspired Leaderships, and a couple Counterattacks that let him use some of my good cards, his cards and dice just were not there. The Seljuq cavalry evaded a lot, hit on ranged shots, hit on Parthian shots, and hit hard in close combat when they risked it. I rolled probably the best dice I ever have in a single C&C game of any time period. The Seljuqs also used an inspired special action to rally 5 blocks out of 6 possible (another "that never happens" die roll) to bolster a HBC, MBC, and LBC that had been severely mauled on the Crusader left. The Crusaders killed off 2 Seljuq LBCs on the Crusader right, but the Seljuq numbers, speed, and good initial deployment were too much when they had better cards and far luckier dice as well. Interestingly, there were no leaders killed, no First Strikes, no Cavalry Charges, and no Ambushes for either side.
This was a fun game with a new opponent. The best thing about these tourneys is meeting good guys across the battlefield who you would play again anytime.

Round 4, 3rd Ramla
Melake, Fatiminds. 3 Banners taken, 28 blocks lost
Steve T, Crusaders. 7 banners taken, 15 blocks lost
The battle opened well for the Crusaders, with a stray arrow killing one of the Fatimid leaders (as well as some re-positioning of the knights) - followed by an Inspired Action Mounted Charge by all of the Knight HC into the Fatimid middle. Although losses were taken from the Fatimid cavalry riposte, the end result was a quick massacre of the Fatimid infantry. Thanks to Mattia for a good game, he played well against great Crusader cards and dice.

Round 2 - 2nd Ramla result:

Crusaders (gotigerssc) 6 banners won and 13 blocks lost (Crusader victory)
Fatimids (gdnuke) 2 banners won and 25 blocks lost

This scenario is quick and bloody. The Fatimids are anchored to the battlefield by their 7 infantry units, none of which can evade, but they have good cavalry support, and their Battle Bonus is 2 dice instead of 1. The Crusaders have only 5 units - 3 HKC each with a leader and 2 MC. Killing or forcing the Crusader leaders to evade or escape off the board is key (and the only way to get to 6 banners for the Fatimids).

Our game only took 2.5 turns. The Crusaders played Forward, the Fatimids played Line Command (and the Crusaders played a First Strike ineffectively), the Crusaders played Cry Havoc to kill 2 Fatimid units, the Fatimids played 3 Units Center to kill 2 HKC but their leaders were able to evade (staying on the board but exposed), and the Crusaders took 1 Fatimid unit out with a second First Strike in two turns, then the Crusaders played Mounted Charge to kill 2 Fatimid units and a leader attached to one of them. Game over!  It almost takes longer to write about it than it did to play it, but it was fast and furious fun! The logfile is attached for anyone who has a hard time believing that the Crusaders could play 5 cards total and the Fatimids 2 cards total to complete this scenario. Check it out!

Gileforn (Turks) - 7 banners, 22 blocks lost
Viridovilas (Crusaders) - 3 banners, 19 blocks lost

That was a quick and bloody battle, where both sides have started from leadership orders and mounted charge. For the first time Turks where not too much effective and battle back gave some problems to them, but then they gathered and finished there massive attack. Two nobel knights were captured during this battle.
Thanks to Max for the good and interesting game.

Round 2
109 2nd Ramla - 17 May 1102

Melake (Fatimid) 4 banners, 32 blocks lost
Soul1st (Crusaders) 6 banners, 17 blocks lost

The crusaders were heavily outnumbered and the only thing to do was an all out attack with the superior Heavy Knight Cavalry. The crusader side had some good cards and started with a mounted charge, followed by a first strike. The crusaders kept attacking and secured the victory.

Round 5
112 Tel Danith - 14 September 1115

Barbarossa41 (Seljuq Turks) 3 banners, 36 blocks lost
Soul1st (Crusaders) 8 banners, 20 blocks lost

The crusaders attacked mostly left and right with their hkc and mc. The seljuqs pulled of a few light cavalry swarms, but the knights proved to tough to beat.
