Can “Slow” be played against a unit battling back? (C/Q) 2007-06-20 02:35:35
Q: Can Slow (and reaction cards in general) be played during one's own turn as well as during an opponent's turn? Specifically, can Slow be played against a unit which is battling back?
A: Yes reaction cards can usually be played during one's own turn, PROVIDED you still respect the limit of only ONE lore card played per player in a turn. Here you could thus play Slow on a unit that is battling back, if you haven't already played another Lore card during your turn.
What is NOT possible, on the other hand, is to play a card that is NOT a reaction card, during the other player's card (so you could not play a Bless during one of your unit's battle back for instance).
Can “Slow” be countered with “Strength”? (C/Q) 2007-07-05 12:49:13
Q: Once Slow is played, is the target unit limited to 2d in battle regardless of any other plays, or could a card like Strength be played after Slow and have that +1d be added on top of the Slow penalty of max 2d for a total of 3d? (Another question of latter played lore trumping (of sorts) formerly played lore during a turn.)
A: The issue is not whether one would trump the other or not, the issue is that the cards could not be played in the order you ask: A Strength card would take effect before Slow (which is a Reaction card, unlike Strength) and would not not affect it! if you played a Strength, you would thus still end up rolling only 2 dice.
