Historical Notes

The Paronne river has long been a major shipping lane into the Bordeleaux Province. The Earl of Dusconne has recently been charged with holding the river at it's start where the Geurriou and Bastagne Rivers meet in the foothills of the Chernelloi Mountains. His forces have set camp and have started to build fortifications along some of the hills overlooking the Paronne. Once completed, this stronghold will make enemy incursions into Bordeleaux all but impossible, for the river is the only water supply large enough to supply an invading army.
Guy Pendrake, the Duke of Liden, has other plans. He has always eyed with avarice the fertile soils and defensible terrain of the province. He has dispatched a force to stop the construction of the stronghold and seize control of the head of the river.
The bulk of LaRoche's forces has yet to arrive. It is to his good fortune that the Parrone River is a profitable tradeway between the Dwarven Thanedoms in the Chernelloi Mountains and the Bordeleaux city of Pryonne. The dwarves realize that any sustained conflict between LaRoche and Pendrake will severely hamper their profits so they have marched to the aid of the Earl of Dusconne.

Victory Conditions

7 Banners

If a Dwarven unit brings about the demise Slagbottumz, they receive the added victory condition, for the giant has been menacing their trade routes for years. They will receive the welcome of heroes if they return with his head on a pike!

Briefing

The river is held by a force of French and Dwarven units. The attacker has enlisted the aid of a venerable hill giant found wandering in the crags of the Chernelloi Mountains. Pendrake offered the giant, who calls himself Slagbottumz, an entire herd of fine cattle in exchange for his aide.
For the Standards hold the ramparts at ALL COSTS! The treacherous English will be unlikely to take the stronghold or the river if these fortifications stay under French control.
For the Pennants, don't attack piecemeal. You do not have the ability to move an entire seige force over the mountains, so you must accomplish this mission with the forces at your disposal.

Special Rules

The entirety of the Standard force is BOLD and ignores the first retreat banner rolled in each attack! They understand that this stronghold must be completed to ensure the long term survival of their people.

Pendrake is an experienced leader of men. He believes that he must accomplish this mission to achieve greater status back home and potentially expand his territories. He is therefore BOLD and imparts this trait to his unit of heavy cavalry. Should he fall in battle, he will be ransomed back at a high price by the French. If lost, he provides TWO victory conditions to the French.
