Commands & Colors: Ancients is already a great game, but ScenarioX makes it even better, by allowing players to challenge each other with a wide range of armies from throughout history.  Alessandro's great work in providing a graphical reference for the ScenarioX armies was a good start, but it was still a complex process figuring out which army blocks one could use from CC:A to build these armies, and even harder to quickly see which two armies could be built to face each other on the battlefield.

My two documents are designed to help with this part of the process.  There are two files, which can be used together or separately, to help set up battles between ScenarioX armies with the Commands & Colors: Ancients game:

(1) The ScenarioX Army Building Reference is the simple list of all of the ScenarioX armies.  Each army is shown using Alessandro's graphical representation, and a simple system shows you which of the Commands & Colors block-sets (Roman, Carthaginian, Egyptian, Greek, Barbarian) can be used to build those armies for playing.  In many cases, more than one set of blocks can be used to build the same army, and a color-coding system shows when you may have to make some piece substitions in order to field the army of choice.

(2) While the Reference is a simple guide to building each of the armies in ScenarioX, the comprehensive ScenarioX Army Building Guide goes a step further.  This document is broken down into sections for each of the ScenarioX armies.  The main army is listed at the top of the page, and the army's traditional enemies are listed below.  This document allows you to see, at a glance, which sets of C&C blocks you'll need for BOTH armies in a conflict.

When you sit down and agree to play a ScenarioX battle, use the Reference to determine which armies you can build easily.  Once you've chosen one army, you can use the Guide to determine that army's opponent, and easily see which blocks you'll need to build both armies.  This way you can see that if you need your Roman blocks for one army, you'll have to use the Greek ones for the opponent, and other situations along those lines.

I hope that these documents make ScenarioX more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.  Comments, questions, and corrections should be submitted directly to me by e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. Special thanks to Alessandro for his excellent work on commandsandcolors.net/ancients, ScenarioX, and his kind help and support in the creation of these files.
I hope they are useful!
