Round 1
Marcin (stormwalker) Antigonus: 6 banners won, 16 blocks lost
Joe (Gonzo) Gallic: 3 banners won, 28 blocks lost

As we all know this scenario is skewed towards Antigonus: his army is not only stronger but also positioned very close to enemy units. Nevertheless, the Gallic forces did try to resist Greek attacks by performing some well thought out defencive manoeuvres but dice and cards favoured Antigonus as well.

Round 3 (JD20) Thermopylae
Tony: Gallic 6 banners Won, 26 blocks lost
Pars(Ahmet): Greek 5 banners (won), 26 blocks lost

As the Gallic army adjusted their line, the Greeks double timed into their left and did great damage taking 2 banners. The Gallic army countered with Leadership card and were able to eliminate 3 units including 2 heavy Infantry. Picking off units from left and right flanks to end the game. Fun and quick scenario.

As I understand it, they really are Celts (Gauls) on one of their periodic migrations/invasions.
Seems like Thermopylae was a regular defense point for the Greeks, not just against the Persian invasion.

Round 3
JD20 Thermopylae (279 BC)

MIchalK (Gauls) 6 banners, 30 blocks lost
EZPickens (Greeks) 5 banners, 24 blocks lost

The game started with big action from Greeks - double time in the center with four HI. The rolls unfortunately did not went well for Greeks and only 1 AUX was destroyed. The Gaulic response was devastating - 3 HI decimated plus leader. Sounds like end of game? No way! Greeks reformed and Barbarians were in deep trouble having 4 out of 5 cards for their right wing. from 4-1 it went to 4-4, and then in last turn to 5-5, with very close finish - Battle Back decided the result of game. Wow, it was much more intense then you could expect after initial two turns but anyhow finished in 35 minutes.

Rd 6 Tony vs Gonzo Mt Eryx
Gonzo (Epirote) 7 banners; 16 figs lost; Tony 3 banners; 35 figs lost
Some initial skirmishes all about. Overall, Epirotes army's missile fire good, Carthaginian terrible. Screened Elephants until double mounted charge sent the Epirote cav charging, with mediocre results. Lost 2 elephants for 2 lgt units and a damaged MI. But, the 2 Cav units escaped and Alexander's HC was a headache the rest of the game, charging LI with retreats blocked and falling back unharmed. Epirote HI push up the right middle met with double time from Carthage which foundered on Alexander HC holding flank followed by bad dice from rest of inf. The phalanx ground forward slowly for two turns grinding units while sheltering wounded. Lucky Alexander and 1 pt HC escaped on a double flag from bb. Thanks to Tony for a good game. The double time could have gone totally different.

Round 3

Marcin (stormwalker) Gallic: 3 banners won, 30 blocks lost
Giulio (giulio) Greek: 6 banners won, 15 blocks lost

The Greek advanced and attacked in their left and center section maintaining the line formation. The heavy infantry took the usual substantial toll from the enemy. A timely Barbarian cavalry charge could have changed the sort of the battle, or at least evened it out, but failed to achieve any substantial effect.

I was able to play three line command cards in a row. Marcin performed a timely and well designed cavalry charge but was afflicted by very bad dice roll. I have to say that I did not like very much this scenario. It seems heavily dependent on the kind of cards you get at the beginning and essentially there's no room for creativity: having the cards, the Greek simply has to attack head down and hope for the best.

Round 6
JD24 Mount Eryx (277 BC)

MIchalK (Carthage) 7 banners, 28 blocks lost
Cavie (Epirote) 5 banners, 24 blocks lost

Very interesting and tense game (at least for me as Carthage). So many units, so many light in first line, with no possibility to escape. It costed me a lot of maneuvering and agile thinking - being under constant pressure of good cards Dan had was not helping. However, what failed Dan were his Elephants - and my play of "I am Spartacus" which allowed me to get rid of HC.
However, in the end HI or Pyrrhus arrived and climbed my hills. It was blood work to get them from the hills, but finally the gave in and game finished.

My another game where I have more banners, but bigger losses. Thanks for Dan for flexibility with time - and challenging game.
