Sorry I was not clear - I meant this week before the May 1st deadline.

Game 1
mk20336 (Rome) 7 banners
EZPickins (Carthage) 2 banners

Very bloody and unfortunately one sided game; the Romans under Scipo completely obliterated Carthaginians, starting with multiple Elephants trample and rampage and finishing off on the wings. With proper cards Romans can be pretty unstoppable here - and teh cards difference means that Punic army will not have a way to respond.

Game 2
mk20336 (Carthage) 7 banners
EZPickins (Rome) 6 banners

A completely different game, a true rollercoster and return from hell and abyss by the Carthaginians. I probably used-up my whole supply of luck for one month. It started normally, with Romans attacking the flanks - one elephant went down but the other one was screened. Then I very nicely timed the mounted Charge, attacked and... was completely rebuffed. it was like 3-6, 4-6 and miracles started to happen. I managed to pick up units one by one plus had a luck in last two rolls.

Greta two sessions, thanks to John for the games!

PS. First log file unfortunaetly got corrupted but I have the second one:

Renaud vs Andras

1st round: Renaud Player 1 (5) - Andras Player 2 (7)
2nd round: Andras Player 1 (1) - Renaud Player 2 (7)
Full game: Renaud (12) Andras (8)

In the first game, the Carthaginians (Renaud) lost their elephants in their second turn, to a 2-hitter by an LI and a First Strike by a HI. Memory of the details as now faded, but the Romans made progress on the banner count, in part by being quite aggressive with their MC on both flanks, until the remaining Carthaginian LC, with 1-block, declared a cavalry charge against a 1-block Roman LC that was unable to retreat and got cut down, and then a bonus attack against an unsupported 1-block Roman MC that also got a flag and was only 2 hexes from its rear edge. That brought the score of 5-6. I think the Carthaginians had a shot at winning, but a 5-die attack with leader on a LI failed to kill, and the Romans sealed the deal afterwards.

In the second game, the Elephants got single hit by the Roman LI and one first rampaged and then hit 2 light units that blocked its retreat, but they survived for a long while thanks to skirmisher screens subsequently put in place. The Romans were able to corner an unsupported Carthaginian LC on the right, but were not as successful on the right (due the LC being supported). Eventually, though, the Carthaginians lost all of their mounted troops (2 EL, 2 LC, and 2 MC) mostly to the Roman cavalry (and skirmisher sniping). It took a while but the Roman right was able to move forward in position for a double time that nabbed the 7th banner (a 2-block AX) despite a 3-hit first strike.

I'll attach the logs to the next post if I can.

Match 2

Gileforne (Carthage) 4 banners
Marco (Roman) 7 banners

Note: For clarity, I use “Left” and “Right” to refer to the left and right side of the map, not to each players left or right flank.

The Romans immediately attacked close combat with Lights on the right, causing the Elephants to trample damage units there. The Carthaginians responded by maneuvering their own Lights, opening retreat paths behind the ELE. The Romans continued their advance on the right, attacking with LI and advancing Scipio with his MI and HI, driving the ELE back. Hasdrubal Line Advanced, bringing his entire infantry forward. The Romans then advanced their AUX into the center and right, looking to support against an attack there. Hasdrubal Line Advanced again, doing missile damage and bringing his army within striking range of the Romans.

At this point there were no banners, and Hasdrubal was now in command of the center. The Romans finally maneuvered on the left in an effort to save their damaged LI there. Hasdrubal Ordered Heavy Troops and attacked with his ELE, destroyed the LI, but lost the ELE on a subsequent battle back. First blood for both.

Scipio then attacked on the right again, eliminating a LI. An Outflanked by the Carthaginians brought HI on the left and ELE on the right into play. The Romans took damage on the left, but eliminated the ELE on the right. A Roman Rally gained 4 blocks, but resulted in no significant damage. A Double Time by Hasdrubal brought his HI and WARS into contact on the already weakened left and destroyed the MI in a single roll. The Romans had luck with a Line Command of their own, destroying Hasdrubal’s MI and sending him scurrying back to the AUX in the rear. Next Marcius of the Romans had some running to do, as his MI succumbed to missile fire he then attached to the HI. Next Scipio attacked again on the right, gaining banners but taking damage. A Move Fire Move by the Carthaginians shot Scorpio’s MI out from under him on the right, and he retreated to the MC there.

The score was now 5-4 Romans, and an Order Mounted brought Scipio on his MC to the heavily damaged WARS near the Carthaginian rear row, but a perfectly timed First Strike by the Carthaginians threatened to change the course of battle. Although almost destroyed, the remaining one block MC, with Scipio attached, destroyed the Wars and sent the MC on the rear row fleeing to end the battle. A long and hard fought game, thanks Gileforn!

Lunacab vs Azzy

Game 1:
Carthage (Lunacab): 3 banners
Roman (Azzy): 7 banners
Very hard and long battle. 27 rounds. Carfage had good cards(MCH+1, DMove,FS,2Spartacus) but not very good dices. So we struggle and struggle. I think it was mistake for my  opponent attack with Doublemove without General. He didnt make much hurt  and i could remove my wounded units in rear and counterattack.

Game 2:
Carthage (Azzy): 7 banners
Roman (Lunacab): 4 banners
From first round i had DoubleTime, so i was waiting  for good time  to use it. I hid my elephants behind light units. And waited, and  waited. I finally caught Mounted Chage and Chaaaaaaaaarge. Attack  was terrible, i kill 2MC and  didnt loose anyone. After  that Rome made counterattack, killed one elephant, but diceded not shoot in another Elephant. It was good for me. My  elefant caught MC and on next  round i make doublemove and destroyed the left flank/

Game 1
Viridovilas (Carthaginian) 7 banners
JawaNick (Roman) 6 banners

It was a tough battle, with Carthaginian elephants that managed to disrupt the Roman line. This delayed a bit the Scipio army charge that once launched was countered by the Hasdrubal veteran infantry.

Game 2
Viridovilas (Roman) 7 banners
JawaNick (Carthaginian) 3 banners

Again a very tough battle, this time much quicker than game 1. After a few skirmishing, the two armies clashed on the Roman centre-right where Hasdrubal fell deadly wounded. There was no time for Scipio to rejoice that a fierce Elephant charge trampled him too. Yet the Roman infantry managed to stand and finally made the opposing army to flee the field. Still history has definitely changed, since there will be neither Scipio Africanus nor Zama hero…
