Game 1

Player 1 Riverwanderer 2
Player 2 PCScipio42 7

Rome had the cards and dice this game, with several line command and counter attack cards.

Game 2

Player 1 PCScipio42 7
Player 2 Riverwanderer 6

Cards and dice were more even, a tight tense game.

Sorry report is short, I had typed one in earlier and it disappeared.

Game 2

These two battles played pretty much the same, clash on the hill in the center, followed by carnage just to the left of the hill which resulted in Germanic victories in both games and also the death of Germanicus.

Game 1:
Stanislav27 (Germanic): 7
Lemming100 (Roman): 1

In the centre, I was blessed with an ample supply of Light Infantry cards, which allowed me to occupy and hold the ridgeline against wave after wave of Roman infantry. My brave Auxilia and Light Infantry stood their ground throughout the entire battle.

On the Roman left, Nick advanced his cavalry early on. I managed to utilize my own cavalry to good effect in spite of the challenging terrain, though not without drama. Nick played a very well-timed First Strike as soon as I unleashed my Mounted Charge. My brave Germanic riders just about held their nerve. They then went on to obliterate the entire Roman left flank.

The battle was settled when the Roman push in the centre and centre-right started running out steam. I advanced some of my Warrior reserves, who pushed back the Roman infantry on the right of the centre, punching a hole through their lines and then delivering the coup de grâce.

Game 2:
Lemming100 (Germanic): 7
Stanislav27 (Roman): 5

A very hard-fought and arduous battle. My Roman forces seized the initiative from the outset, a very good starting hand enabling me to push forward and actively contest the central hill formation with excellent results. Nick fought back with skill and determination, however, and as time went on, my useful cards started drying up as my soldiers started tiring.

With the score 4-2 in Roman favour, fortuna started deserting me for real. A drought of Central Cards that would last until the end of the game forced me into a tactical withdrawal from the hill, just as Nick seized the initiative and brought his reserves forward. I attempted a Mounted Charge that seemed both bold and necessary. It turned out to be catastrophic. Nick's "talisman warrior unit" shrugged off a combined total of 8 leader-enhanced rolls and killed two of my cavalry units on the battle-back.

This was the moment the tide of the battle truly turned. With the score 5-5 I went hunting for the annoying "talisman warrior unit" who had been reduced to one block for what seemed hours AND a number of attacks upon it. Nick thwarted my attempts at assassinating this weakened unit even as he pushed forward with relentless Germanic force in the centre. He topped this off with a combination of Darken the Sky and First Strike which denied my last remaining cavalry unit a certain kill against the "talismans". At 6-5 to the Germans, I attempted to maneuver as well as possible, but it was too little, too late. Nick crushed my brave Germanicus' second unit without mercy.

---

Thanks to Nick for two excellent battles. I enjoyed this scenario quite a lot.

My big post wasn't saved after sendind. Now I'll write a smaller one.

Game 1

Marco (Roman): 3
Gileforn (Barbarians): 7

It was a very good game with a lot of cavalry attacks by the both sides. Romans were better there and destroyed two barbarian's collegues. Then warriors started there rush and destroyed a lot by double step. In the final the last cavalry with a leader were lucky and take auxilia with a leader.

Game 2

Gileforn (Roman): 7
Marco (Barbarians): 6

It was a strategic well played game with a lot of changing postions. Romans were captured twice. There leaders also twice tried to escape through barbarians. Leaders were lucky and escape plan worked good. In the second part of the game Romans captured the hills and luck was on there side. Thanks to Marco for an interesting and good game.

Round 2 Game 2 - Weser river

Benlore (Rome): #7 banners

Cavie (Germ.): #3 banners

The Romans started slowly and did a minor advance against the barbarians before they could fortify on top of the hill. This seemed to work as they had the upper hand.

Then the Barbarians attacked the Roman left flank with some success. After a long series of light skirmishes the final thrust into the Barbarians right hill less flank left the Romans victorious.

Just happened to notice we never posted our Round 2 result; nothing worse than having to relive a two-game drubbing!

Game 1: Michael V (Germanic) 7 banners, Travis (Roman) 6 banners

Game 1 came down to a couple of tight rolls at the end of the game. Very tense but enjoyable. The center hills changed hands three times, and despite taking horrific losses on awesome Germanic battle-back rolls, the Romans seemed to be on the verge of victory, holding a lead and the hills with the German center and left seemingly destroyed. However, a back to back play of Mounted Charge and Spartacus regained possession of the hills, and the Romans ran out of cards and had to throw caution to the wind. One last bloody battle-back from the Germans was all it took in the end, but a great game to play, and even to watch again (begrudgingly.....).

Game 2: Michael V (Roman) 7 banners, Travis (Germanic) 2 banners

Game 2 may have been a bit closer than the score implies, but not much! As the Germans, my plan was to take the hills early, which I did successfully, and then move my cavalry up when the opportunity arrived. Unfortunately, the Roman uphill rolls were as good or better than my downhill rolls, which allowed a few wounded Roman units to escape. I maneuvered my cavalry into position, but the Romans were ready, jumping them before they could come thundering in, and routing them from what I thought was a relatively safe position. After that debacle, all that remained for Michael to do was chase down a couple more units and it was over. A counter punch ready for everything I threw at him.

Thoroughly enjoyed the scenario. A lot of different approaches and ways to play it out, which is always something I look for. Great choice for the OT.
