That was one of most devastating games for me in all my CCA career. Before I managed to make a move or even roll a dice (in battle back for example) I was down 0-4. Simply sitting and watching my front line being decimated.

Giulio had good cards and good rolls, but also played well - so I need now to compensate for this loss in my other games. Which with Romans will be hard...

Round 2: 417 Edessa (259 AD) Travis vs. MichalK

As the Roman player, Michal played this one exceptionally well, despite the odds. His double-time card pressed the center and led to the elimination of a Persian LB, W, and Elephant. I was able to respond with a Mounted Charge card that more than evened the losses, but unfortunately I was unable to foresee the fact that his 4 card hand included a counter attack, which put me on the brink of defeat. Fortunately, THREE different game ending rolls were influenced more by the Persian gods than the Roman ones, and I was able to survive and surround the final units needed to defeat him.

Travis (Persians) 6 banners, 23 blocks lost
MichalK (Romans) 5 banners, 26 blocks lost

Round 4: 406 Anthony's Siege Train (36 BC)

Tony (Parthians)
1 Banner won
17 Blocks lost

MichalK (Romans)
6 Banners won
13 Blocks lost

This was most unexpected game. I started with slow move of my two wagons toward right flank and possibility to escape. Tony immediately charged my AUX and it was gone. Then I regrouped and key moment in game happened - Move-Fire-Move card. Tony managed to catch up with my wagons, but my counterattack (1 MC and 1 LB, no leader) managed first to cut off and destroy one LC and then the other.

I was also lucky with my AUX in center, with my MI on left. Both managed to do some decent bb. When mounted charge came on me I thought it was finish, but survived and managed to response with similar card. Last turn was all or nothing - I attacked supported LC, with no retreat path, with 3d of range rolls and 3d of close combat. That was sufficient...

Strange game, I made plenty off attacks, non of which was supported by leader...

Round 2: 417 Edessa (259 AD) Giulio vs. Plainscape

Giulio (Parthians)
6 Banner won
21 Blocks lost

Plainscape (Romans)
5 Banners won
34 Blocks lost

A very tense game. Todd had serious possibility to win despite the loss of his unique leader. I (the Persian) started with a relatively weak hand and continue to draw badly, with the exception of a "First Strike" and a "I'm Spartacus". No mounted charge, no order mounted. Elephants were less effective than expected and in order to collect banners I exposed myself too much. At the end, the overall better quality of my units balanced my lack of generalship and gave me the victory.

Round 4: 402 Carrhae (53 BC)

Tony (Parthians)
7 Banner won
19 Blocks lost

Logan Alper (Romans)
4 Banners won
36 Blocks lost

Parthian Right flank units including Leader Surena attack the Roman infantry out front and eliminate 2 units. The next turn Surena follows up and eliminates another Medium infantry unit. As Roman infantry advanced, the Parthian cavalry pulled back. I am Spartacus enabled Surena and H Cav to attack an unsupported M inf and wiped it out. Ma and B against Publius MC almost taking it out. BB killed Surena and his H Cav. Parthian LB Cav moved to threaten Roman Right flank and Romans responded attacking Persian far right flank. Roman LC and MC with Leader eliminating Parthian LC and LBC evening the game. Parthian H cav attacked weakened MI and eliminated it but was unable to eliminate weakened M cav. Roman attack cut off the H cav but MI and LI were unable to eliminate the Parthian unit. Battle back eliminated Roman LI. Parthians cut off MI retreat route and the HC eliminated it. A fun game. I had great cards and some great and some terrible rolls.

Round 2: 417 Edessa (259 AD)
Mark McG (Parthians)
6 Banner won
4 Blocks lost

Toganalper (Romans)
1 Banners won
25 Blocks lost

Parthians started with a Mounted charge which the elephants smashed the Roman centre, destroying the Praetorians and driving Valerian and the Heavy infantry away. Fright at first sight was very powerful..
Romans responded with a Mounted Charge of their own, which did well on the Roman left destroying 1 Medium cavalry and driving the other off with losses. On the right the Heavy cavalry charged elephants, which went badly for the Heavy cavalry, and the Parthian Medium cavalry held it's ground, driving the Romans off.

The Parthians responded with Counterattack.. another Mounted charge. Only needed 1 elephant, who destroyed a Heavy infantry, killed Valerian, and a Medium infantry.
A 3 card game, and barely needed the 3rd card. Very tough on the Romans if the Parthians start with Mounted charge.

Round 5 KP02 Misiche (244 AD)

Mark McG (Parthians)
4 Banners won
26 Blocks lost

MichalK (Romans)
7 Banners won
20 Blocks lost

Another strange game. First, Mark had really outrageous dice while I had usually average, but in crucial moments - better then average.
Secondly, brave game buy Romans seems key here to get points.

We started slowly, with arrows flowing over heads of my infantry when it was approaching the hills. Then I draw DTS card - which allowed me to take down two LBC on Mark's left. That inspired me to go that way - which proved to be great ides (with Double Time helping greatly). My leader venture to the far side of the map, but he took 3 banners with him. It was 5-0 and then Mark play Mounted Charge - that was devastating, and I was down 4 units. It started to get very interesting - well prepared attack in center dispatched Persian catarphact but then I was attacked by two Persian warriors downhill. 2-block Pretorians survived 6d and and then final blow came - lc2d with two LDR symbols... I hate to win that way but understand the pain - in my first MT I lost Cunaxa battle 1-7 but there death of Cyrus meant game over... Anyhow, our second game in MT58 of Misiche and second Roman victory. Will we see Persians victorious?

Side note: Mark, I think on results page you have some results in "Running scores" table but not in the "Preliminary Rounds" table. Can you enter it or would you like me to enter it?
