CC Ancients on vassal

Can someone tell me where to go for support of CC:A on Vassal?  I'm trying to run it on a Lenovo laptop.  When I try to load a saved game, I am only given EPIC player options.  The game I am loading is not an EPIC game.  I've tried selecting all three options Player 2 left, etc. to no avail.  The game loads and I can drag a log file into it - everything looks fine but I cannot access my hand of command cards and cannot do anything else.

Hi Joseph,
let's see what we can do here.

Can you please tell me some more details about:
  • your OS (like Win10, Win11, MacOS...)
  • Vassal version you are using (current version is 3.7.14)
  • C&C Ancients module (current version is 4.3.22)
Could you please attach the file you are trying to open here in the thread so I can open it too?

Another question: was the file saved by the same vassal user/pc?

Let me know and sorry for the late reply.
Alessandro

Those symptoms are a sign that the module password you have set on your machine is different from the one you had when you last saved the game or log file.

How you switching computers or done a fresh install for some other reason?

You can check the password that is set in the module from the File menu, Preferences, Personal tab.

Does this help?

I am attempting to use a laptop when I travel. That is the machine on which I encounter the problem. Is it not possible to use modules between machines? Both systems have the same version of Vassal and C&C: A. Both running Windows 11 Home.

I do not see where to set or change a module password using the File, Preferences sequence. No Preferences tab. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Same vassal user but not the same PC. I am attempting to continue an asynchronous PBEM game using a laptop when I travel. This seems not to be possible?
Thanks,
Joseph Youren

To change your password on the laptop:

1. Start the Vassal module.
2. In the module - look under the File menu; do you see a Preferences options ?
3. Select the Preferences option.
4. You should now see the Vassal module's preferences window. You should find a tab in there called "Personal". Select that and this is where you can set the password - it needs to be identical to that on your other machine.

Thank you so much. I found an old password on the laptop. Changed so passwords on both machines are the same and problem is resolved.

Good to hear. It's a common problem.

Final thing to bear in mind - passwords are set at Vassal module level, so if you use other modules on your laptop then you may come across this situation again.
