Ready for action...

HexBattle is a piece of software I have worked on for a number of years - more "off" than "on" at the moment.

It is designed to be usable across any of the "command and colours" series (e.g. BattleCry; Memoir'44; Ancients and so on).

I'd like to thank Alessandro for his personal support in both hosting and using it.

And I am around to try and answer any questions... :)

I would just like to say thanks to Derek for his hard work in bringing this product to us. I have used it to produce all my scenarios, find it very easy to use and thoroughly recomend it.

Hello Derek, I have now successfully got your HexBattle on my new laptop. On my old PC I was able to go into the 'Forces' file and add new army titles that I needed such as 'ath=Athenian', but when I try this now it says I don't have permission to save changes to the program.

Is it possible please for you to add the army titles I need please? If so I can give you the list of the ones I need.

Also, It would be great if you could ever update hexbattle with the new Roman (purple) and Spartan armies that were part of expansions 4 and 6?

Anyway, thanks for your great product.

Hi.

Wow. I did not think anyone ever used this software... I guess I have the source files for it somewhere and I probably should release this code to github as I literally have not touched it for many, many years. Maybe someone will take on the job of adding new armies?

Thanks for getting back. I much prefer your programme because The scenarios look like The official GMT ones.
The new armies are just a wish list really. The army names are more important to me at the moment. Greek v Greek just dosen't look as good as Athenian v Corinthian etc.
Is that something you could do? If so I'll give you the ones I need adding.

OK, I managed to find a copy (not sure if it is complete) and I think it should be possible to now use Python to run the designer & generate the scenarios.

I think once that that part is working (i.e. you can work with what you have already) then it can be expanded with new armies.

Having said that, I would not want to go and change the actual code I wrote - its been a long time since I used the XSLT language....

That's great. Well at the moment the only army names I need adding to the 'Forces' file are as follows:
ath=Athenian
cor=Corinthian
ion=Ionian
boe=Boeotian
oly=Olynthian
cat=Catanian
leo=Leontine
