OT2024R4G1 - JD49 Arretium (284 BC)

Player 1 (Gallic) beckerdo - 6 banners
Player 2 (Roman) David I - 5 banners

Unfortunately the Gauls did not have a "Order Mediums" and so had to open with a weak play. The Romans weathered repeated attacks, reformed, and pressed on their right flank. They were winning 3-1 when the cards started favoring the Gauls and they took the lead.

In the end game, both sides had multiple attacks and could have won on multiple moves, but neither could put it away. Eventually the Gauls win 6-5.

lunacab vs Warrick

Game 1
  Gallic (Warrick):    6
  Roman (lunacab): 4

Britomaris started a direct attack right from the very beginning, but soon, he lost two units. The Romans took the centre, but when everything looked shiny and promising, Britomaris took control of the situation and slowly collapsed the Roman centre. There was some hope for the Romans, but it was just an illusion.

Game 2:
  Gallic (lunacab):    6
  Roman (Warrick):  1

Britomaris decided to organize the centre, while the Romans sent their auxilia to generate some damage from afar. All the Romans' efforts did not work as well as they should, which allowed Britomaris to organize a mounted charge on his right and to move an organized centre. Luck-wise, the battle was one-sided.

A pleasure to play, even if it took to find a weird time for both of us!!

Game 2

Player 1 Gallic ( David I)         6
Player 2 Roman ( Beckerdo)   2

Britomaris had a bounteous selection of command cards from the outset with two line commands, counterattack and 'I am Spartacus' in hand from early on, as well as the missiing 'Order Mediums' . As a consequence it was an infantry heavy encounter fought mainly on the Roman right and centre. Some lucky javelins weakened the Roman medium and heavy infantry. Warriors struggled as alway to avoid charging into trouble and only one of the Gallic warrior units was at full strength by the end. Metellus did well to keep his main infantry units together and deployed them with a long-awaited 'double time' but there was not much luck in the rolls and another 'counter-attack' allowed Britomaris and his auxilliaries to mop up three weakened units in the centre to win. No wonder our ancestors prayed to their gods to be with them in battle. Luck is a funny thing.

    Game 1
    Gallic (mk20336): 6
    Roman (Gileforn): 1

Much closer game than the result suggest - a lot of 1 block Gallic Warriors survived here. Still, the 4-card Roman hand was ultimate demise for them.

    Game 2
    Gallic (Gileforn): 6
Roman (mk20336): 3The Gallic tribes immediately attacked, and it took some time for the Romans to react. But when they did, they managed to dispatch three of enemies, weakening significantly more of them

Thanks to Gileforn for flexibility in scheduling those game! Very tough scenario for Romans!
