Let me say straight away my luck was ridiculous this game. I think the RNG gods took pity on me for Munda, where Caesar was killed very early and I could not break into a hill to save my life.
Game 1
Caanan kwofford-6
Egypt mk20336-4
Got a ridiculous early hand with mounted charge. I advanced my left to the river to hold off that flank. Michal was kind enough to advance his light chariots to within 3 hexes of my chariot line to missile fire. I charged his front line with my center chariots and light cavalry, breaking an auxillary and killing 2 of his Light Chariots despite an evade. Michal skirmished, and the chariots advanced again to maul the center-left warrior units. Another counterattack, and the final tally was 5-3 in the Caanan's favor, exchanging HCs and an LC for 2 auxillae, a warrior, and 2 LCs. Michal charged his left to try and salvage the situation, but in an exchange he lost his last LC to the last remaining HC block.
Game 2
Caanan mk20336-4
Egypt kwofford-6
Michal advanced his left and right, opening with missile fire. I reorganized my line and exchanged fire on the right. He advanced his right for an indecisive exchange of fire, then advanced his heavy chariots. The LCs charged and came off much better in the exhcange, killing 2 HCs. Combat continued in the center, with the LCs trapping and killing an Auxillae for a 3-2 banner advantage. Michael advanced his right, gaining two more banners, and took the lead with a 3-4 score. The center Egyptian warriors were still intact, and countercharged with the LCs for the final banners against the depleted center.
Getting the cavalry charge in my starting draw was clutch as the Caanans, and I just got really lucky with my LChs as the Egyptians, coming off better in the exchanges with the HCh between these fragile but powerful units. Thanks to Michal for being a good sport despite getting no grace from the RNG.
