Pompei (Mike/scipio1zama) 6 Banners
Ceasarian (Joel/SkunkyBeer) 8 Banners

Mike and I played our first game last Sunday. I neglected to save a log file, but do have a snapshot of the final position (attached).

This was a methodical game on both sides, Caesar nibbled at the flanks, but could not tempt Pompei off the hills. Eventually, Pompei found he could not really support both flanks at the same time, and Ceasar made a push to roll up his left. Bloodiness ensued, and while Caesar found the banners to win, he did not succeed in minimizing his losses. The next game will decide whether or not this was decisive. As this game ran 3+rhs real time, we decided to play the next at a second session (TBD)

Paul, Pompeian, 3 banners taken, 33 blocks lost
SteveT, Caesarian, 8 blocks taken, 21 blocks lost
My Caesarian right gradually advanced, followed more slowly by the centre, gradually crushing the Pompeians opposite, gaining the ridge, and rolling up the Pompeian line. Caesar, as always, led the attack.

Unfortunately, this time the sandal was on the other foot. Caesar’s forces advanced towards my ridge, helped by accurate missile fire. I re-ordered my line, moving weakened units to the rear, and launched several counter-attacks, some successful and some not, but Caesar could not be stopped. This looks to me like a very tough one for the Pompeians. Thanks Paul for a great pair of games

Game 1

taliapharaoh (Pompeian) 7 Banners

Rams1984 (Caesarian) 8 Banners

A very entertaining game, back and forth throughout. Similar to my opponent in game two, I was able to utilize a solid opening hand to counterattack and get some early kills when the Caesarian forces advanced on the hills. A terrible roll by my opponent on a flanking maneuver gave me some life, as I was able to magically draw a 4 left card in the nick of time to be able to take out a couple units and leader. I was hoping to be able to use my MC card to end the game, but Ramalingham expertly parried my attempts and moved in for the final kill. I was within one hit on a Clash of Shields HI roll away from victory, but could not get it in the end. A great game, well played by my opponent.

(Logfile to be added later)

Game 2

Rams1984 (Pompeian) 4 Banners

taliapharaoh (Caesarian) 8 Banners

The Pompeian forces came down out of the hills to do some early damage, and their poised counterattacks rendered Caesar ineffective and constantly running for his life. Ultimately, it was Pedius leading a sustained attack on the Pompeian center, combined with the inability of my opponent to counter with the 4 card hand, that sealed the game for the Caesarian forces.

RiverWanderer (Caesarian) 8 banners taken

Steady advance by Caesar, working up to a Clash of Shields that helped the Caesarian centre onto the hill. Pompey defended hard but was always behind. Finally, his weakened right flank gave Caesar's cavalry the opportunity needed to close on Victory.

Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday.

The Caesarian army advanced on the left flank, but the Pompeian army had the right cards to both counterattack and attack (scoring 4 VB, killing 1 leader).
There was some movement in the center, with Caesar attempting to advance with a few units and some pilum fire.
Pompey remained in the second rank, supporting friendly units on the front line.
The Pompeians, with both "first strike" and "clash of shield" cards, managed to decimate the enemy.
The final point was scored with a ranged fire on Caesar's unit, who was mortally wounded by an arrow.
The Pompeians win with the spoils of 2 leaders.
The dice were completely in favor of the Pompeians.

Thanks, Charles, for the game.

The rematch is scheduled for Wednesday.

Game 1

toganalper (Pompeian) 8 Banners

creatus (Caesarian) 4 Banners

Ceasar got killed very early in the game. And that was the real cause of a long and slow defeat of the Ceasarians

Game 2

creatus (Pompeian) 2 Banners

toganalper (Caesarian) 8 Banners

Just to the exact opposite, Ceasar was vey succesfull with his army and later once his forces were dead with an other auxilia troop to kill at least 4 units of the pomerians. The 2 double time and the I am Spartacus also helped the Ceasarians
