Game1:
toganalper(Syracusa) 6 Banners
benglore (Carthage) 5 Banners

Game 2:
benglore (Syracusa) 1 Banners
toganlaper (Carthage) 6 Banners

Both games looked actually quite similar with the Syracusan left trying to escape from the Carthagian heavy troops lead by Mago. In the first game the Syracusan right were able to come to Dynasious help, whereas in the second game the Carthagian pushed very hard and fast tocapture all of the Syracusan left flank before they can scoot to the center or befrfore Heloris can come to help. Nearly no play had taken place in the right half of the board.

Thanks to benglore for getting up so eraly to play.

I believ this will be the end for both of us in this tournament. Accordingly, I would like to extend my sincere gratitiude to Mark and alll other to organize such great events and tournaments.

Please keep safe and be prepared against Covid-19

OT20 Round 5: Gela

Game 1
Gileforn Carthaginian: 6 banners
RiverWanderer Syracusan: 5 banners

Opening with Double-Time, Syracuse soon ran out of steam in the centre, whilst Carthage made a sustained assault against their left flank.
Syracuse fortunate to escape with a 5:6 loss.

Game 2
RiverWanderer Carthaginian: 6 banners
Gileforn Syracusan: 4 banners

Steady Syracusan development was frustrated, first by misfortune that allowed Carthage to re-organise its right flank defences and then by a Cathaginian chariot charge that stalled the main Syracusan assault and swept away Heloris at the same time. A fresh assault led by Dionysus was halted at the ramparts by Himilco, who led a coordinated attack on Dionysus' Auxilia to take the winning banner.

Both games were tense and tight affairs. They both started on the left and there were some clashing on the right with the Carthage mounted units, but they all came down to some grinding battles in the center.

Game 1
PCScipio42 Carthaginian 3 banners
Soul1st Syracusan 6 banners

The Syracusans started the battle on their left flank, achieving nothing, and retreated towards their base. The Carthaginians manned the ramparts and drew up a defensive line on their left. The Syracusans slowly worked theid way around the ramparts to attack the Carthaginian left, who attacked with their heavy chariots. They were surprised by a first strike, and the chariots were eliminated. The Syracusans then continued their attack, winning 5 more banners while losing three.

A very quick battle where the first strike was very important.

Many thanks to you, Stanislav. Wonderful after action report!
Both games were really exciting. I was skeptical about the scenario, but it turned out to be interesting, possibily as a consequence of some unpredictable dice rolls.
You deserved to win, you are a very skillful player.

Game 1
Marco (Syracusen) 6
Lemming100 (Carthaginian) 2

Both sides began with light movements, Syracusan by getting their left to safety and bringing Dionysius to the center to join the HI and MI, while the Carths brought their lights to the ramparts in excellent line formation, firing on the Syrs and heavily damaging Dionysiu's AUX. The Syrs then advanced the HI and MI in line, while the Carths brought up their Heavy units. The Syrs again advanced to the center and assaulted the ramparts, but to little effect. The Carths launched an effective attack on the left, eliminating an MI and sending the lights running. With a Clash of Shields the Syrs gained the ramparts in the center and did damage on the left. Again the Carths ordered Heavies, eliminating the MI on the left but having only slight effect in the center. Luckily withstanding a well timed First Strike, a Mounted Charge by the Syrs HC eliminated a HCH, . The Carths again advanced on the left, preparing to run the remaining Syrs lights off the field. After some indecision, the Syrs attacked to eliminate the last remaining MI in the center, and detached Dionysius to support the lone HI at the rear, which finished the damaged HI on the left. Dionysius was left alone in the center at the end of the battle.

Game 2
Marco (Carthaginian) 6
Lemming100 (Syracusen) 4

Ignoring the left, the Syrs began with an aggressive charge on the right. They double timed forward, eliminated the bowmen, and gained the ramparts. The Carths could only withdraw their MI. The Syrs continued their attack in the center, pushing the Carths further back. After losing a MI in the center, the Syrs commanded their flanks, supporting the center and advancing on the left, eliminating the other bowman on the ramparts there. At this point the Syrs had almost complete control of the ramparts and were ahead 2-1. A light command by the Carths gained a banner, but the ramparts were now under complete control of the Syrs. A heavy command by the Syrs did damage to the center but took no banners, while a double time by the Carths took an AUX to safety and brought the MI to eliminate a Syrs HI. Again the Syrs pushed their HI in the center, gaining two more banners but leaving the HI units heavily damaged. The Carths chased off one HI with their HCH, and eliminated the other with their remaining damaged MI, causing Heloris to scramble back to the other heavily damaged HI in the center. Returning to the left, the Syrs did little damage while the Carths used the opportunity to advance their HI and HCH. The Syrs pushed their remaining MI on left, but failed to take a banner. Similarly, a Mounted Charge by the Carths in the center not only failed, but almost cost a HCH. A final Syrs attack in the center was evaded, while a Carths counterattack with the HCH finished the heavily damaged HI there, leaving Heloris alone to ponder his misfortune.
