Game 1
Mark McG (Pontic): 7
Michael V (Roman): 4

most of the early action was on the Pontic Right, with the Pontic's trading a Chariot for Medium Infantry. Ultimately, the Pontics cleaned up on this flank, eliminating 4 units and the leader, and then crossing to the centre for the winning banner.

On the Pontic Left, the 36th Legion doubletimed forwards, but couldn't close with the evading cavalry. A mounted charge took one Heavy Infantry, but at the cost of the Chariots, and eventually the Heavy cavalry. The final indignity was a Pontic Light infantry evading away with 2 hits, and the follow up pila attack was a banner, causing his loss.

Romans won the Left, but Pontics won the right bigger.

Game2
Mark McG (Roman): 4
Michael V (Pontic): 7

Totally different game. Legio 36 doubletimed up to the Pontic line first move, and crushed unit after unit. Roman were up 4-0 and things were going well until Calvinus pushed his luck and tested himself against Phanacles. 3 hits weren't quite good enough, and the battle back got 4 hits, killed Calvin, and the ensuing reaction wiped out the 36 Legio. 4-4

I then advanced the Roman left, but failed to get to grips with the slippery Pontics. Meanwhile, the Pontic cavalry slid around the Roman right, and a mass Mounted charge took 3 banners in one round. 7-4

Cavie (Pontic) - 7 Banners
David M (Roman) - 5 Banners

Game 2
Cavie (Roman) - 6 Banners
David M (Pontic) - 7 Banners

Both games were a slug fest with the Pontic army claiming a leader each game. Tough game for Rome when starting down one leader and then losing another making it 3 leaders to 1 about mid game.

Game 1
Marco (Pontic) - 4 Banners
Soul1st (Roman) - 7

The Romans scored some early hits against the Pontic chariots and a HC unit. The Romans then concentrated on their right flank. Attacking with the XXXVI legion. Pontus took 2 Roman units and launched an attack on the Roman center using double time.

The logfile is split into two parts, because of synchronization problems halfway the game

A-historically both battles included a lot of cavalry action on the flanks. These heavy chariots are always tempting - so strong and yet so fragile. Fast and furious games - of the kind that brings fun and leaves you wanting more.

Game 1

Travis (Roman): 7 banners

der_mandarin (Pontic): 1 banner

After a heroic performance from an Aux on the Roman left took out the heavy cavalry elements of the Pontic right, this was was decided when the XXXVI Legion was able to close with the Pontic left, who was unable to escape the heavy infantry.

Game 2

Travis (Pontic): 7 banners

der_mandarin (Roman): 6 banners

Pontic left was able to just barely escape the onslaught of the XXXVI Legion and eliminate the HI for an early lead. However, this lead soon evaporated with the slow and steady advance of Roman units elsewhere, until in a desperate move, the Pontic HI was able to advance and withstand the final Roman assaults. Romans were within a block of victory a couple of times, made for a very exciting game.

Round 4 - JD103Nicopolis47BC
Game 1
Benlore (Roman): 5 banners
Viridovilas (Pontic): 7 banners
The Romans took the early advantage and attacked hard on the left and right flanks stunning the Pontic leaders Drmchtes and Aristion. However, the two pronged advance significantly stalled and the Pontic general Pharnacles rallied a heavy legion in the centre and drove a devastating wedge through the Roman ranks to victory.
Game 2
Benlore (Pontic): 7 banners
Viridovilas (Roman): 1 banner
Early light skirmishes on both sides drew the first blood and a banner each, but then the Pontic general Pharnacles double timed into the Roman left flank to gather a few Pontic banners. Before the Romans could rally, Drmchtes and Aristion leading the Pontic heavy cavalry thrusted, deeply into the wounded Roman flanks, taking the Roman leader Sextus to his grave, to deliver a quick and decisive victory for the Pontic masses.
