Again the battle was decided in the last instant. The Romans were for a long time in the lead but the Epirotes managed to ty the score to 5 - 5. After that the Romans were able to deal the final blow.

What a game! It lasted for 3 hours. Very tactical. I enjoyed it a lot. Sadly, it was a bit spoiled by a sync problem at the end: I was seeing a unit in one place but in fact, it was in another place. Max would have won in any case, but maybe I could have got one more medal. We will see if it is going to make any difference or not. I suspect the VASSAL server felt the game fatigue of such a long battle :-)

I'm concerned that there are 5 pairs that haven't started their matches at all. Deadline is looming!

Game 2

Asqwasqw (Epirote): 6 Banners
Gonzo(Romans): 3 Banners

The fight began with a lot of manuevering, as both sides attempted to rid their hands of unwanted cards while advancing in a solid line. Each army pushed their right flanks forward. After a lot of build up, the Epirotes drew first blood with a warrior charge, which was swiftly countered by the advance of the Romans, who cut down the warriors after a tough struggle. Pyrrhus counter attacked fiercely (1st spartacus card), and managed to rout some heavy infantry, though his escort infantry were driven backwards significantly. Pyrrhus advanced his right flank in an effort to get them into the fight, at which point the Romans surged forward, wiping out the elephants. This allowed the Epirotes to counter attack harshly again (2nd spartacus card), destroying three groups of roman Medium troops, although leaving the army scattered and heavily wounded. The battle concluded with a heroic charge by the Roman cavalry on the wavering medium infantry in a final attempt to rout the Epirotes. Alas, leaderless, they failed in their charge and were cut down in short order, giving the field to the Epirotes.

Interesting round with lots of cardplay (3 double times, 3 I am Spartacuses, 3 order light troops (in a row!). Definitely could have gone differently with a little shift in dice rolls/cards. Thanks to Gonzo for the enjoyable games.

Much shorter game... slightly more than one hour and a half... Max attempted a brave double-time manoeuver, exposing his troops to my assault. I eliminated two full strength units without taking a single hit. Dice were definitely on my side! Then the game slowed down: Max was trying to find a stronger defensive position and I was trying to attack but keeping losses to a minimum. A mounted charge with the elephant in the middle of Roman troops did the magic, killing two units, the second while retreating.

Two tense games with some expected battle outcomes and others with many multi - colored rolls that changed battle plans in both. First Strike made a difference in each game as well as Double Time. Elephants did some rampaging damage as well. Fun games with Forrest!

Apologies had to rush and haven't written detailed reports. Two very closely contested, tense and enjoyable games, as they always are with Caspar. We had a lot of problems with a module glitch and unit sprites in the second game, meaning a lot of resynching and a broken log for me. I've tried to stitch it back together but on reviewing it I can see the glitches still appeared in the log, so it's pretty hard to follow what was happening.

OT-2019, Round-2

Game-1

Maxiaka111 (Roman) - 2
Gileforn (Epirote) - 6

That was very fast and not too much lucky battle for Romans. We understood everyting after rolling 4 swords by Roman at Spartacus card. Heavy Epirote army finished destroying of Roman troops.

Game-2

Maxiaka111 (Epirote) - 6
Gileforn (Roman) - 4

New battle was very intersting and hard. Repositioning of Romans and few cards to do someting. It was possible that winner will be from the other side, but tis time Epirote was more lucky.
