Game 1
scipio1zama (Sertorian) 6 vs Togan Alper (Roman) 4
Game 1 saw Togan’s Romans attack my Sertorian right and after a tussle, he had lost an MC, two MI and his leader Afranius to my one lost auxilia. However, he got immediate payback when his LS picked off my weakened MI AND got my leader Manlius as well. Then a battle in the center cost me an MI, but cost him two MI, giving my Sertorians the win, 6-4.
Game 2
scipio1zama (Roman) 6 vs Togan Alper (Sertorian) 4
Game 2 saw us both work to get our lines set up. His Sertorians hit first on the Roman left. My Romans came back on both flanks, did some damage, but received more damage in return, and the Sertorians led, 4 banners to 3. In a desperate attempt to at least reflect the first game’s score, Mike’s Roman MC with Pompey aboard moved up to attack a 1-block Sertorian MI, and succeeded to make the score 4-4. However, Togan’s Sertorians now had the opportunity to surround Pompey with an auxilia, a full strength MI, and a full-strength MC.
But good fortune smiled on Pompey’s MC as the MI (without the help of a leader) missed completely, and the Roman bb scored 3 hits. Then the aux attacked and got 1 hit, but missed the leader. The Roman bb scored no hit, but forced the aux to retreat, opening a retreat path for Pompey and the Roman MC. Finally, the full-strength MC, with Sertorius aboard, attacked Pompey’s MC – and scored just 1 hit while missing Pompey himself. The Roman bb missed completely.
Pompey, deep in enemy territory on a one-block MC – plays a Clash of Shields and attacks! A Roman MI rolls 6 dice and eliminates the 3-block aux, then Pompey takes out the 1-block Sertorian MI for the Roman win, 6-4. (Sorry to be so long-winded, but it was pretty exciting.)
