he Belgae, aided by good rolls, gained the upper hand in the initial skirmish on their right (3-1). The Romans formed a complete line and then line advanced to the river and followed this with darken the sky. Missiles were hurled back and forth across the river, with both armies on either bank, while a melee continued on the flank. Here, the Xth legion advanced, and although half broke and fled with Labienus, they returned to the fray, closing the gap (6-5). At this point one of the barbarian chieftains channelled Spartacus and led a 3 unit attack into the river in the centre, and was able to make the riverbank in the follow-up attack, with two Roman MI units destroyed (8-5).

My Romans formed up on the ridge line, aiming for long range fire to weaken the Belgae, while the Belgae approached the river, and attacked with their cavalry on the flank, gaining the laurels in this skirmish (2-1). The Roman long range fire was not particularly effective, and the Belgae line advanced into the river, with fighting occurring all along the line in the river, favouring them (4-2), with the Romans pushed back to the ridge in the centre. The Roman right flank legions reached the river and joined the melee here, and the Xth legion gradually gained the upper hand on the left, crossing the river and advancing into the Barbarian hordes (6-6). Caesar suddenly attacked in the centre, supported by MC, and gained two more banners (6-
