Match 2
George (Carthage) 3 banners
Mark McG (Roman) 7 banners
I always find it easier to play to a target, knowing you can lose X many banners, as long as you win the scenario. As it was the Romans had a great start here, ordering the Light Troops and getting a hit and a flag on each elephant. The resulting rampage and trampling did a further 5 hits on the unlucky troops behind the elephants.
After that, the elephants were hidden away, and it got down to serious skirmish business. Lot of evading and javelin throwing, but push came to shove and eventually Marcius double timed into action to kill an Auxilia. This brought the Roman Mediums into range of Stompy, and I thought a full strength Medium Infantry could handle a lone elephant. Well Stompy went through the first Medium, then the 2nd Medium that had Marcius without drawing breathe. Fortunately Marcius made it away, and the Heavy Infantry cut Stompy into steaks. The score sat now at 2-2 as I reconsidered my plan, but fortunately I drew First Strike. So after settling the left flank where Stompy had wreaked his havoc, I pushed up on the right. I rallied my troops (4 out of 6 rallied), and made a miscalculation allowing a Light Cavalry to be cut off from evasion. This set off the action, with the Medium Cavalry sliding behind the LC, the Warriors coming up to execute the LC, and the other elephant walking into the First Strike ambush.
With the Medium cavalry and warriors exposed, I got Scipio to Doubletime into them, killed off the Warrior with two attacks, and got 3 Blue hits on the evading Medium cavalry with the bonus combat.
That pretty much finished the battle. Scipio then had to press forwards until the Carthaginian lights could evade no more and finish the battle, but George had one last trick that came close to working. His other warrior led by Hasdrubal charged Marcius on a Heavy Infantry. Again I bet I could withstand the attack, but was nearly proved wrong with 3 hits. Fortunately Marcius dealt back 4 hits, and it was all over.
Great game.
The Elephant charge was the best ever I've witnessed, optimal taking out 2 full medium in one turn.
To add to that last turn Leader ship any section? Is it possible to split the leader and move? I think leader can only be moved on section cards, order mounted and IAS with leader symbol.

On investigation, you are correct, leaders cannot be detached from a unit, but a lone leader can move. Didn't occur to me at the time, partly because the leader image is on the card. In Napoleonics, the leader can detach!
