I most likely would not pay for a "deluxe" version with plastics...
That said, I am really enjoying making a hobby out of collecting, painting, and playing C&C:A with 20mm plastics.
Since I don't have the time or inclination to play a more detailed Ancients rule set(like Field of Glory or WAB), using figs hits that sweet spot of easy rules with lots of visual impact.
The biggest drawback I can think of with figs is the "fiddlyness". Battlelore solves this with a special basing system. I have come up with my own magnetic system for 20mm plastics that solves the problem.

I have both C&C ancients and Memoir 44. One blocks, one plastics.
Plastics are pretty to look at and add a miniatures level to the game.
Blocks look a less impressive. However in terms of supplying information to my eyes the blocks are far superior. A combination of easily marking them with a colour and shape for unit ID, plus the variety possible for light infantry, light bows etc allows me to look at the battlefield and spot instantly what is where.
Memoir 44 figures allow me to do this only because there are so few troops types in the basic game. Plastic colour only has to supply nation information, not more.
I would vote for blocks. I certainly would not by a deluxe variant with plastic figures - as I don't consider it deluxe for my purposes. I might consider buying an expansion of plastic figures to use instead of blocks but even that would be VERY hard sell, and you would have to be able to replicate all the information those blocks give me as easily as the blocks give it to remotely stand a chance of me buying that expansion pack.
If I want figures, Im afraid Im far more likely to go to a miniatures company and buy 15 or 6mm figs to make bases. That gives me the detail I need to replace blocks.
Also I see no poll option....
