New player - box contents question

Hi there,

New poster here, I've played a few games of some other C&C games (mostly Memoir '44 so far), and I've a burgeoning interest in historical wargaming, I figured that getting hold of C&C Ancients would be the logical next step (plus there is something about pushing little wooden blocks around the game board that appeals somehow ;) ).

So, I bought a copy of C&C Ancients, and I've been reviewing the contents before putting the stickers on the wooden blocks. All seemed fine until I came to the rectangular blocks (for the Leaders and Chariots).

In the box there were 6 gray and 8 brown rectangular blocks.
Under the unit information the manual states there should be 5 gray rectangular blocks and 7 red/brown blocks.
However, in the Contents section of the manual, it states that there should be 16 rectangular blocks total (which would indicate that there are less rectangular blocks in the box than are required).

In short what I was hoping that someone could tell me is, am I missing any of the rectangular blocks? From what I can tell, there are enough blocks for the stickers that come in the box (though for all I know, you may need the spare blocks for extra stickers in the expansion or something). Equally, it could well just be a typo in the manual.

If it's relevant, I'm pretty sure it's the third edition box.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give!

No worries, just sticker up the ones you need (7 brown and 5 gray)the others are best kept until you need them (losing a block is not that much of a disaster then).

I too only received 14 rectangular blocks with my 3rd ed box, but it has no effect on the game or on later expansions (each set has blocks and stickers for all units in that box).

Have fun, I think that you will enjoy the deeper tactical sense of CCA, which IMO is the best of the C&C system games - although I await C&C Napoleonics with bated breath.

Thanks for the reply - big relief! Now I've just got to find the time to sit down and put all the stickers on the blocks!

I heard they were working on C&C Napoleonics - never a period that particularly interested me until recently, but I think I'm best off playing the heck out of Memoir and C&C Ancients for now ;)

Thanks again, looking forward to playing :)
