more expansions! was created by garyp
Hi All.

I have recently acquired my copy of CandC:A after looking at it for a long time - what a good game - sorry i took so long to jumpo in. I have the first 3 expansions and the latest 2 are on order. So - just never satisfied - what expansions do everyone want going forward:

I vote:

Biblical - loads of chariots and few heavies
Dark ages - lots of heavies and few lights
Medieval - might need some special unit rules?
Renaisssance - probably need some special unit rules or maybe a seperate game
Napoleonic - please Mr Borg - probably need to release as a seperate game

If the system works, as it does so well, for WWII, Fantasy and Ancients then these must be very possible.

Regards,

Gary

I think as far as expansions go i.e. new armies etc. I would like to see a Biblical expansion along the lines of the GBOH Chariots of Fire module.

A chinese/Indian expansion would also be good.

An expansion with a second Greek army and battles along the lines of the proposed GBOH Hoplite module would be desirable too.

From what I've read on Consimworld and can remember, I don't think Richard Borg envisions this system going beyond about 400AD. I can't remember the rationale for that, but there was some?

Keep it coming I say!

There is a thread on BBG that includes a response from Richard Borg indicating that a Napoleonic version was possible - but that was some time ago and Richard gave no details.

It seems to me that a system that copes with ancients, ACW and WWII plus fantasy can cope with any era at all. Napoleonic would certainly need some tweeks but off the top of my head - skirmisher shooting (infantry get shooting dice), square (infantry ignore swords and flags against mounted), more effective artillery (longer range and more shooting dice), Guards units (5 block infantry), Conscript units (3 block infantry) - and a lot more I am sure but the system is so simple, elegant and effective - more, more more stickers and blocks I say.

I didn't mean that the general system couldn't go beyond 400AD, as it has already done this as you say, but that It isn't Richards intention to go beyond with the C&C Ancients game, but with a new game. That's my reading of it anyway?

Thanks for the clarification Jim,

Expansions to the existing game (within the time frame envisaged by Richard) and one or several more games using the system for other eras - all good.

I have been playing a bit of Memoir44 of late and found the ability to add colour and detail with just a minor tweek (an extra block for elite companies, a single block with a slight tweek of shooting range/factors for snipers) just works so well.

Having only recently acquired the C&CA game and expansions with 2 more expansions to come I am pretty well set for a while now anyway and I am currently assessing the viability of doing miniatures and a 3D board - not at all necessary as the blocks are good but I guess we all go through this. I see it potentilly as a very long term painting project.
