Hi Mike
I'll show you columns of my "graphical edition" that follows directions from the original author.

UNIT = a complete set of blocks forming a unit (i.e. 1 AUX unit = 4 AUX blocks)

from left to right...
CORE = number of mandatory units (usually 30 points)
UNIT = image of unit block
POINTS = "unit cost" of that particular time
BONUS = optional additional unit

every time you add a BONUS unit, you should total its POINT COST.

In that way both units should be well balanced.
Hoping to be clear, don't hesitate to ask for more clarifications!
Alessandro

P.S. Welcome Aboard, Mike!

The Core units I understand.
The Bonus blocks, if I have say 4 bonus blocks I can take a maximum of 4 units of that type in the army,, rigth? For each bonus unit I would add the units cost to the army, just the cost for the unit nothing extra for the bonus blocks. This way the army remains a "typical " army of that nation and time,,, do I have that rigth?

thank you for your help alecrespi.

You really have a BEAUTIFUL site!:woohoo:
cheers
Mike

Let's get CLASSICAL GREEK as an example.

CORE UNITS COSTS: (formula is "COST x UNIT")
4 x 1 LDR = 4
2 x 1 LI = 2
3 x 1 LB = 3
4 x 4 MI = 16
5 x 1 MC = 5
TOTAL = 30

usually EVERY CORE UNITS totals 30 points.

Before starting a game, decide with your opponent TOTAL VALUE of both ARMIES (i.e. 100 POINTS).

for every UNIT you add, sum up unit cost to the total.
(i.e. if you add 1 Unit of HI - Heavy Infantry you should add +5 POINTS, if you add 1 AUX unit you should add +3 POINTS, ecc)

The number of BLACK SQUARE under the "Bonus column" states the MAXIMUM unit available for that army.
(i.e. Classical Greek army can only recruit 1 SLINGER unit and 2 Heavy Inf.)

For EVERY unit added, you should sum up its value to the total
(i.e. if you recruit 4 x LIGHT CAVALRY, you should add 4x4=16 POINTS to your army total).
