As I play C&C Ancients with my 12 year old as my 8 year old watches on intently, I can't help but wonder if kids wouldn't get more interested in history class if they got to play out battles rather than be told about them in the abstract. I am thinking of starting a club like this at my son's school. But, I would need deeper explanations of why the game mechanics in C&C are the way they are. What explains the differences between warriors and medium infantry? Or between light infantry and auxilia?
Does anyone know of a write up of the 'whys' of the C&C game mechanics, for a student interested in the historical explanations?
