Just happened to notice we never posted our Round 2 result; nothing worse than having to relive a two-game drubbing!

Game 1: Michael V (Germanic) 7 banners, Travis (Roman) 6 banners

Game 1 came down to a couple of tight rolls at the end of the game. Very tense but enjoyable. The center hills changed hands three times, and despite taking horrific losses on awesome Germanic battle-back rolls, the Romans seemed to be on the verge of victory, holding a lead and the hills with the German center and left seemingly destroyed. However, a back to back play of Mounted Charge and Spartacus regained possession of the hills, and the Romans ran out of cards and had to throw caution to the wind. One last bloody battle-back from the Germans was all it took in the end, but a great game to play, and even to watch again (begrudgingly.....).

Game 2: Michael V (Roman) 7 banners, Travis (Germanic) 2 banners

Game 2 may have been a bit closer than the score implies, but not much! As the Germans, my plan was to take the hills early, which I did successfully, and then move my cavalry up when the opportunity arrived. Unfortunately, the Roman uphill rolls were as good or better than my downhill rolls, which allowed a few wounded Roman units to escape. I maneuvered my cavalry into position, but the Romans were ready, jumping them before they could come thundering in, and routing them from what I thought was a relatively safe position. After that debacle, all that remained for Michael to do was chase down a couple more units and it was over. A counter punch ready for everything I threw at him.

Thoroughly enjoyed the scenario. A lot of different approaches and ways to play it out, which is always something I look for. Great choice for the OT.

Round 2 Game 2 - Weser river

Benlore (Rome): #7 banners

Cavie (Germ.): #3 banners

The Romans started slowly and did a minor advance against the barbarians before they could fortify on top of the hill. This seemed to work as they had the upper hand.

Then the Barbarians attacked the Roman left flank with some success. After a long series of light skirmishes the final thrust into the Barbarians right hill less flank left the Romans victorious.

My big post wasn't saved after sendind. Now I'll write a smaller one.

Game 1

Marco (Roman): 3
Gileforn (Barbarians): 7

It was a very good game with a lot of cavalry attacks by the both sides. Romans were better there and destroyed two barbarian's collegues. Then warriors started there rush and destroyed a lot by double step. In the final the last cavalry with a leader were lucky and take auxilia with a leader.

Game 2

Gileforn (Roman): 7
Marco (Barbarians): 6

It was a strategic well played game with a lot of changing postions. Romans were captured twice. There leaders also twice tried to escape through barbarians. Leaders were lucky and escape plan worked good. In the second part of the game Romans captured the hills and luck was on there side. Thanks to Marco for an interesting and good game.

Game 1:
Stanislav27 (Germanic): 7
Lemming100 (Roman): 1

In the centre, I was blessed with an ample supply of Light Infantry cards, which allowed me to occupy and hold the ridgeline against wave after wave of Roman infantry. My brave Auxilia and Light Infantry stood their ground throughout the entire battle.

On the Roman left, Nick advanced his cavalry early on. I managed to utilize my own cavalry to good effect in spite of the challenging terrain, though not without drama. Nick played a very well-timed First Strike as soon as I unleashed my Mounted Charge. My brave Germanic riders just about held their nerve. They then went on to obliterate the entire Roman left flank.

The battle was settled when the Roman push in the centre and centre-right started running out steam. I advanced some of my Warrior reserves, who pushed back the Roman infantry on the right of the centre, punching a hole through their lines and then delivering the coup de grâce.

Game 2:
Lemming100 (Germanic): 7
Stanislav27 (Roman): 5

A very hard-fought and arduous battle. My Roman forces seized the initiative from the outset, a very good starting hand enabling me to push forward and actively contest the central hill formation with excellent results. Nick fought back with skill and determination, however, and as time went on, my useful cards started drying up as my soldiers started tiring.

With the score 4-2 in Roman favour, fortuna started deserting me for real. A drought of Central Cards that would last until the end of the game forced me into a tactical withdrawal from the hill, just as Nick seized the initiative and brought his reserves forward. I attempted a Mounted Charge that seemed both bold and necessary. It turned out to be catastrophic. Nick's "talisman warrior unit" shrugged off a combined total of 8 leader-enhanced rolls and killed two of my cavalry units on the battle-back.

This was the moment the tide of the battle truly turned. With the score 5-5 I went hunting for the annoying "talisman warrior unit" who had been reduced to one block for what seemed hours AND a number of attacks upon it. Nick thwarted my attempts at assassinating this weakened unit even as he pushed forward with relentless Germanic force in the centre. He topped this off with a combination of Darken the Sky and First Strike which denied my last remaining cavalry unit a certain kill against the "talismans". At 6-5 to the Germans, I attempted to maneuver as well as possible, but it was too little, too late. Nick crushed my brave Germanicus' second unit without mercy.

---

Thanks to Nick for two excellent battles. I enjoyed this scenario quite a lot.

Game 1
der_mandarin Germanic 7
Greg O Rome 5

Rome had the cards and dice this game, with several line command and counter attack cards.

Game 2
der_mandarin Rome 5
Greg O Germanic 7

These two battles played pretty much the same, clash on the hill in the center, followed by carnage just to the left of the hill which resulted in Germanic victories in both games and also the death of Germanicus.

It was very hard to bouth sides? because of very bad command cards in the begining. Germanics was very brave and atеacked me in center and my right flang. I had commands only on left, so i began contratacked by my MC in left flang. It gave me the necessary respite and new cards. God of dice was Roman at that day ))) With good cards, dice and Roman infantary i began kill Germanic everywehere))) It was 6-4 score. But Germanic in his last move attack with spirit of Spartacus. It became 6-5, 6-6. And in last attack 1 Germaт Warrior against my Middle Infantary , God of Dice again was with Roman. And score became 7-6

Stormwalker (Germanic): 7
Giulio (Roman): 6

This game was played some time ago and I don't remember the details. My log file is only partial. Marcin if you have a good one please add it. Or I'll attach mine if necessary.

Game 2

Giulio (Germanic): 7
Stormwalker (Roman): 6

The match was balanced all the time. Roman attacked the hill, took losses and retreated. Then they start operating with the cavalry on the left flank with much more success. A terrible mistake in positioning a cav, forced by Marcin's well-coordinated attack, did cost me two banners! In the end, I managed to kill a two-block solitaire Roman aux unit on the right. I had the poorest cards imaginable, made mistakes and rolled badly. I think it's hard for the Romans to win this one if the German plays wisely.

Learning from the first game, the Romans closed up on the hill, influenced by a Clash of Shields card. Germanic cavalry nearly stole the show, but Germanicus pulled it from the fire at the end.

Game 1
spleen1980 (Roman): 7 banners
Polonus100 (Germanic): 6 banners

As Roman player I wanted to avoid to fight uphill, but I had Clash of Shields pretty soon and I took the opportunity to inflict heavy damage to some germanic auxilia on the hills. Then Polonus played Double Time, leaving the safety of the hill, gaining two banners.
There were a lot of attacks, counterattacks and tactical retreats in the center section, Polonus quickly gained 6 banner, I had only 3.
Three germanic units were exposed, so I played what I thought that was going to be the last turn for me: I Am Sparatcus, attacking 2 units in clear terrain and Arminius on the hill. I got 3 banners from the attack, killing 1 med inf, 1 warrior and capturing Arminius,
Polonus attacked my units on the hills in my left flank to harvest the victorius banner, but the hills offered very good protection. Germanicus attacked a lone warrior unit winning the battle.

Game 2
spleen1980 (Germanic): 7 banners
Polonus100 (Roman): 5 banners

I quickly occupy the hills in the center section and I move the med cav with the lead in the middle of the hills.
Polonus knows that he has to avoid to fight up hill and unleashes his cavalry on the roman left, killing two germanic med cav left alone.
The roman cavalry is a little bit overextended, so I attack them in clear terrain with med inf an warrior units. The infatry repels the roman cavalry, so I launch the same two units against a 1 block med cav with a Double Time card: i know they're going to die soon, but I want to take the opportunity to kill the leader. The attack is partially successful and after some roma counterattacks we are both have 4 banners.
Polonus plays a very good Rally card and pushes my right flank and the forest in the center section. I use my last couple of good cards to reinforce and counterattack in the hexes between the hills and the forest, I use a light infantry unit to screen my med cavalry and leader, knowing it is going to die soon. In fact Germanicus advances with his heavy infantry to wipe the light infantry which is without evade/retreat path: Germanicus fails to kill the light infantry, the battle back inflicts 1 hit and Germanicus has not the favour of Dea Fortuna and he dies to the leader check. I think this was the turning point of the battle. But the rest of the game was very, very tense! Polonus is very aggressive and he makes the best use of the only roman leader. The fight is concentrated again in the center section, in the hexes between the hills and the forest. I occupy the forest with a warrior unit. I kill one med cav, the roman leader survives the leader check and he manages to evade through the forest! I have 6 banners, Polonus has 5 banners and I have three units in a very bad position. At this point the soldiers are tired, we both have unusable cards, but Polunus moves a warrior unit, closing the retreat path for a 2 blocks light infantry roman unit. I attack the light infantry, harvesting the last banner.

Game 2 is in two log files, there was a disconnection very soon.

Game 1
Gonzo (German): 7 banners
EZPickins (Roman): 5 banners
Aggressive Roman push in middle stymied 2 with attrition until Arminius dies. Romans corner and kill several leaderless untis until other German leader showed up and killed Germanicus and then the leaderless Romans were chewed up. Close game, mostly grinding combat on hill, the push of shields.
Game 2
Gonzo (Roman): 7 banners
EZPickins (German) 5 banners
Missile fire drove German light units from front of hill. In the first of many Double times the German W and Aux came screaming down the hill while Arminius watched from the hill. They killed 3 units and lost the Aux. More German push in the middle with DT met a Roman double time and Cav charge with all 3 MC ending the game. Both players were in position to win at the end.
Thanks to my opponent for a well played match. There were no "E Z Pickins" to be had in this match. :)

Game 1

Cavie (Roman) - 7 Banners won
Benlore (Germanic Tribes) - 4 Banners won

Took a good 5 hours to complete this first game since there was a lot of cat and mouse moves happening. Ran the deck out of cards and broke the game in to two parts after hitting that point.

Ben stayed on the mountains with his troops which gave me time to back up and organize my lines if he decided to Double Time off of them. Once we ran the deck out I new he had Spartacus and Both DT's in his hand.

When we started the 2nd part of the game I figured he would come full force off the mountain so I tried a left flank distraction being his troops were a little more weak on that side. I didn't play the move well and got lucky a few of his rolls were not devastating. He finally used his DT's and came over towards his right flank and the remainder of the battle was decided there.

Game 1
David (Germanic tribes): 3
toganalper (Rome): 7

The Romans decided to push forward and try to take the hill at all cost. They first charged and weakened the Tribes, then moved back and start to irritate them with distant shots. When the Germanic tribes cav decided to join the feast the Romans attacked at all fronts to finish the battle with a lucky victory.

David(Rome): 6
toganalper(Germanic tribes): 7

Looking to the difficult task at hand the tribe leader decided to take a hold on the hill never go down with his troops until the Romans have some attrition. The tribe leader asked the cav units to charge furiously to the roman left flank and to keep them busy.
At the right moment when the Romans were very close to win the fight the tribal warriors were able to separate the roman right flank isolate them and finish them off to call it a victory for the tribes.

David is a very nice and fun person to play. I hope to see and play with him in next tournaments to come.

GAME 1
mk20336 (Germans): 7 banners

Game started with two Line Commands. Thanks to good cards I was able to occupy all hills and prevent Romans from entering them. But the crucial move the Cavalry advance, unsuccessful Mike's counter-attack and then my Mounted Charge. Without left wing Romans could barely withstand the Germanic onslaught. Good game although pretty tough on Germans.

I had problems with connection thus log file in 3 parts.

Very tough and exciting game for both sides. Romans very quickly advanced to the hill, forcing Germans to play quickly Double Time. Dice was not with Mike today so instead of massive damage, two German Warriors laid dead. The Romans were close to the breakthrough and.. then Mike played rally which pushed my forces back. It was 5-5, 6-6 and then the contest on the hills between my warriors and Mike's Auxilia - 3d roll with crazy results - game could really finish any way.

Round 2 Game 1 - Weser river

TTK (Rome): #7 banners

soul1st (Germ.): #6 banners

The Romans were massed in the center as the barbarian cavalry charged down the flank...
It was not possible to stop it, many Roman troops were trampled into the ground. An unnamed Pops (Bat'ka) (Roman officer) was killed.

One barbarian cav. squad did not even suffer losses until the end of the game...

In this situation, Germanicus had to take the initiative.
His legionaries broke away from the Roman line and rammed the barbarians deep.
Cut down 4 units.

Then the German hird-squad returned with the chief, who dismounted from his horse. They managed to drive the legionaries into the forest and kill Germanicus. But the Legion retaliated by making the score 7: 6...
