So for Round 1 I'm going with a small, easy, fan made scenario, just to get everyone back into the groove.

I've also taken the opportunity to pair up players based on timezone, so most people should get a player close to their timezone. Not that likely to happen again...

So play the scenarios twice, once as each side and report the banner scores (only)

Gonzo vs Cbris Thibault
Gonzo Latin 4 banners lost 23 blocks, Chris Roman 5 banners, lost 22 blocks
Initial Roman advance killed at riverside, just a preview of the massive red tide the river turned into after much combat. Roman Med cav finally got the crads they needed to turn tide.
Gonzo Roman 5 banners, 18 blocks lost, Chris 2 banners, 23 blocks lost
Same bloody river, but Roman crippled units pushed across to carry day

GCallari vs Giulio

Game 2 final result : GCallari (Romans) 0, Giulio (Latins) 5

Gabriele starts strong on his Left flank moving the Medium Cav and 1 Auxilia to attack my light cav. I manage to move two auxilia and a leader to protect the side. When the Roman encircling maneuver seems almost accomplished, I play a first strike that eliminates one Roman Medium cav and, the following round, I manage to destroy the second Roman cav, encircling it with my light cav. A lucky leader check roll gives me my third medal and leaves a Roman auxilia alone on the field. An easy prey for my leader-led auxilia supported by my cavalry. Then some archery exchange follow on the Roman right flank, with the Romans that seem to have the upper hand. However, a central assault of the scaring Roman medium infantry is effectively repulsed when the leaderless Latins decide to perform a stunt on their Clash of Shield, rolling four blue triangle out of five dice, for the final victory. The asymmetry of the final result is very much explained by my lucky rolls and my strong hand of cards.

Toganalper: 2 vs stormwalker:1

This was two very different games:

Game 1: stormwalker (romans) 5: toganlaper (latıns) 3

The latins hold on to their position and did not cross the river. It was a very very very long game we actually were close to run out of cards when I played the I am Spartacus card, after long range shooting and some cavalry fight on the sides and lots and lots of attrition war around the river. A late Latin kamikaze cavalry attack from the rıght flank medium cav commander of stormwalker with no success. Stormwalker managed to outmaneuver me for a 5: 3 victory.

Game 2: toganalper (romans) 5: stormwalker (latıns) 1

The romans started wıth avıctory on the left flank they fırst pushed the lıght latin cavalary back to the village and massacared them in front of their villaga walls. Some of the roman left flank also crossed the river to encircle the latins from the left. Latind as a reaction rolled toı their own left cross the river to their own left and attacked the romans on the roman right flank. The commander swiftly moverd to the right flank organized his aux and the med units and had a fist to fist close counter fight at this flank to come up victorious while losing just one aux unit.

Thanks fort the fun and interesting scenario to the designer and also to stormwalker for two beatıful and challenging games.

Game 1- KenW(Roman) v. Kirk(Latin)
The Romans were uncharacteristically aggressive with their cavalry, opening with charges on both flanks. Thanks to a first strike, the roman light cavalry on the right were devastated, but the Roman medium cavalry on the left had better luck. Blessed by Minerva with mounted charge and some lucky die rolls, the Roman medium cavalry were able to blow out the Latin light cavalry and roll up the Latin line in short order. Final tally KenW-5 v. Kirk-1

Game 2- Kirk(Roman) v. KenW(Latin)
Game 2 opened with a charge of the Roman medium cavalry on the Latin right flank, which the Latin light cavalry were able to frustrate. The Latin line was able to advance to the banks of the river, after which the battle degenerated into grinding attrition. After slogging up and slipping back down the riverbanks the Latins got a foothold on the south back, scoring the last banner as the romans counterattacked to thrown them back. Final score Kirk-3 v. KenW-5

Game 2 Results

Latin: Stonewall - 5 banners
Roman: PCScipio42 - 2 banners

The Romans drove the Latins back with their cavalry on the left, and devastating missile fire, and advanced to the right bend of the river with their medium infantry, but the Latin medium infantry slipped in behind them and killed 2 trapped med inf and the leader when he tried to retreat through the warrior. The game ended when Latin auxilia and lights drove wounded units back on the left and destroyed one with Darken the Skies.

Game 2 results:

Latin: Cavie - 5 Banners (14 blocks lost)
Roman: craniumgroup - 2 Banners (22 blocks lost)

Both sides had a Double time early on and Rome used theirs first. It was sniffed out by the Latin and they some how avoided some of the casualties and then struck back with their DT. Rally was used by the Latin also - 4d - 4 banners......good thing they had a decent lead or that could have been a recipe for disaster.

Game 1 results:

Latin: craniumgroup - 5 Banners
Roman: Cavie - 1 Banner

Mostly a ranged game, but the Roman had some seriously hard luck with the rolls. The Latin marched the Medium infantry on the left all the way down through spears and arrows to engage with the light units on the Roman right with decisive results. A good game with a lot of maneuvering.

2nd match

BrentS (Roman) 5 - mk20336 (Latin) 4

I had a big deficit to turn around from the first match and, far from doing that, looked like I was going to lose this one as well. A hand of left cards tempted me into an early cavalry assault to pin the Latin light cav but Michal had enough cards to pull his centre across, and kill both my medium cav and my leader on a 1 die check. He then attempted a river crossing but got mired down there with a disadvantage in the ranged dueling. He finally got his Warrior into play with a leader attached and at 3 banners to 2 made a an attempt to kill me in the centre, but scored only one banner. With a long held, Double Time I was able to kill an Auxilia, the Warrior and force a successful leader escape for a 3 banner haul on one card play to pull it out of the fire. Exciting finish.
Thanks to Michal for a couple of fun games.

Brent.

Latin: gcallari - 5 banners
Roman: Giulio - 4 banners

Essentially played on Latin left, with a slow but relentless advance by me and heavy and bloody raids by Giulio. Two leaders dead, one per side, both on two-dice checks. Roman had bad luck on first assault losing two medium infantries to a clash of shields, but recovered quickly with a good I am Spartacus roll and an arrow storm which killed two Latin units (a medium infantry and a warrior) and a leader. After that, he lost an auxilia and a leader, then there was a little cavalry interlude on the Latin right, when the LCs went to pepper the Roman MCs out, but ended repulsed later by a mounted charge (one dead with a triple LIT roll and another battered). A last advance by the Latin auxilia on the left brought the game to an end.

I'm sorry, but I forgot to record a log, so I'm attaching the final position in lack of better data.

Game 1
Latin: BrentS - 2 banners
Roman: MichalK - 5 banners

Interesting game. We started with skirmish on the left, which actually resulted in Brent's forces splitting into two formations (left and right). I managed to relocate my LC to center and execute Mounted Charge - not with some great effect (1 unit eliminated) and in the counter attack I lost MC. However, I pushed on my left / Brent's right, providing steady flow of new troops - MI and W from Brent's left were in no position to come to rescue on time.

Then my cards for left section finished... So we started to fight in center, where I lost LC on 2d evade (rare thing, 1 in 36 - definitely not what Mark saw in his game!)

It was then "cat and mouse", which finished in final banner being scored by AUX.

Good game, interesting scenario and a lot of opportunities.

Game 1
Roman: Mark McG - 5 banners
Latin: Mantra - 3 banners

Roman MC and Bowmen took the battle to the Latin Right, knocking out the two LC. A good move because the Mounted Cards did little for Chris from then on. The MC then took out an AUX and a LI on this flanks as well.

The Latins moved up on their left, with their invulnerable Warriors. No missile could touch them. Unfortunately not true for the Roman MC, both perished under a hail of Latin javelins.

In the face of imminent defeat, the Latin Left hurried forward, and the Warriors got 4 Green hits on 4 dice against an evading Light Slinger. I've never seen that before, a 1 in 1296 chance!! Like watching a miracle.

A responding Clash of Arms started poorly, but 10 dice managed to take out the Latin Warriors for the win. Looking very iffy for the Romans if it hadn't paid off.

Also, I never got to play the First Strike I carried all game, my first time in my last 19 games of CCA. I cried..

Guys pay attention: Roman army has TWO leaders. The game included in the VASSAL module is faulty. It lacks the leader accompanying the rightmost medium infantry. Add the leader yourself or use the saved game I included in the second post of this thread.

Game 2

Latin: Armada01 (Tony) - 5 banners
Roman: Plainscape - 1 banner

The Latins steadily moved on the Roman Right flank. The Romans suffered for the lack of Leader on that flank. This severely limited their attack and battle back rolls. That would have made a huge difference in this battle. The Latins crushed the Roman right flank.
